Armidale Antimony – Gold

The SNEO is recognised as Australia’s premier antimony province and the project lies approximately 100km west of the Hillgrove project (ASX: LRV) Australia’s largest known antimony deposit.

Armidale Antimony – Gold Project

The project encompasses 391 km2 of prospective ground within the Southern New England Orogen (SNEO) in northeastern New South Wales.

Project Overview

The RMX project lies parallel to the Peel fault and geology of the tenement is dominated by isoclinally folded Carboniferous metasediments of the Tamworth Belt, a forearc basin package related to west-dipping subduction of oceanic crust beneath the Lachlan Orogen. Ultramafic melanges of the Great Serpentinite Belt, which outcrop along the Peel Fault are considered to be remnants of this oceanic crust. The Peel Fault System has recognised world-class mineral potential, with over 400 known orogenic gold and base metal mineral occurrences along its over 400km strike extent but is considered underexplored with less than 200 mostly shallow drillholes over its length, the majority of which are focused on discrete prospects.

Antimony occurs in hydrothermal quartz veins, breccias and stockworks, often with associated gold and/or tungsten mineralisation. The granted tenement, EL9732, extends 85km in length and contains three old antimony workings, Oaky Hill North and South (2 km apart) and East Hills where stibnite was exploited nearly 100 years ago.

A desktop study revealed a historical rock sample result containing 19.5% Sb, described as a massive stibnite vein within a breccia from the Oaky Creek workings.  Oaky Creek contains two historical antimony workings located 2km apart along the Namoi Fault which strikoes at 135° with the structurally controlled stibnite veins reported in carbonate breccia and altered sandstone of the Late Devonian Baldwin Formation

Next steps for Red Mountain

RMX is currently securing ground access to the initial high priority areas Oaky Creek (Sb), East Hills (Sb) and Horsley (Au-Sb). These areas were defined by a review of all available open file data sets and published geological information focusing on antimony and gold mineralisation. The Company engaged consultants to undertake a land ownership search across the tenement and has commenced direct engagement with landholders securing access over the planned surface sampling and geological mapping areas.

Soil and rock sampling has been planned with sampling grids over all four areas at 50m sample intervals along 100m spaced lines with approximately 1200 samples planned. Geological mapping and rock chip sampling will be conducted on all grids.
